MILLBROOK, Ala. — The Wallace State flag football team capped off a dominant day at 17 Springs on Sunday with a 48-0 victory over Bishop State, improving to 12-0 on the season. The Lions controlled every phase of the game, piling up 203 yards of offense in less than three quarters while holding the Wildcats to just 75 total yards.

The Lions opened the scoring on their first possession when Ma’Kyla “Toot” Williams powered in from one yard out to make it 7-0. Williams then made an impact on defense, recording a sack to help force Bishop’s first punt. A 13-yard punt return by Talecia Ransom set up Wallace State at the Bishop 19-yard line, and three plays later Emma Kile found Taylor Kindred for a three-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

The defense continued to dominate as ZaNiya Mitchell recorded a sack for a nine-yard loss to stall Bishop’s next drive. Early in the second quarter, Kile extended the lead with a one-yard touchdown run. Moments later, Mariah Ragland intercepted a pass and returned it to the two-yard line, setting up another Kile-to-Kindred connection from two yards out to make it 28-0.

Ragland wasn’t finished, hauling in two more interceptions in the quarter. Her third pick led to a six-yard touchdown pass from Kile to Maggie Patterson. On Bishop’s next possession, Jayla Rudolph added a defensive score with a 35-yard interception return, sending the Lions into halftime with a commanding 42-0 lead.

In the third quarter, Kile and Ransom connected for a 31-yard touchdown to cap Wallace State’s scoring at 48-0. Bishop State put together its best drive of the day on the ensuing possession, but Romajah Walton ended the threat with an interception. Following the play, multiple unsportsmanlike penalties were assessed, and the game was ultimately called with 6:48 remaining in the third quarter after Bishop State was left without enough eligible players to continue.

Kile turned in another efficient performance, completing 18-of-27 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score. Ransom led all receivers with six catches for 89 yards and a touchdown, while Kindred added six receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns, along with five flag pulls defensively. Ragland’s three interceptions and five flag pulls anchored the defensive effort, while Walton and Rudolph also picked off passes.

Wallace State (12-0) returns to action on Sunday in Cullman, facing rival Calhoun in a doubleheader at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Woodard Stadium.
