The Wallace State volleyball team extended its unbeaten start to the season on Wednesday night, earning a 3-0 sweep over Gadsden State in Gadsden. The Lions, now 9-0 overall, won by set scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-17, securing their sixth consecutive sweep dating back to the Mississippi/Alabama Crossover.

Rachel Mecklenberg paced the offense with 12 kills, while libero Abby McDonald anchored the back row with 14 digs. Setter Ali Price directed the attack with 34 assists, helping the Lions hit efficiently throughout the match. Cheyenne Lucas provided a major boost at the net, leading the team with a .438 hitting percentage.

The win continues a dominant stretch for Wallace State, which has not dropped a set since its Aug. 24 win over Meridian Community College.

The Lions now turn their focus to a challenging weekend ahead at the Blazer Classic at Vincennes University in Indiana. On Friday, Wallace State will square off with Ellsworth Community College and Wabash Valley, before taking on Vincennes and Mineral Area College on Saturday.
