Wallace State Volleyball Sweeps Invitational Field

CULLMAN, AL — The Wallace State volleyball team continued its perfect start to the 2025 season, finishing 4-0 at the Wallace State Invitational held Friday and Saturday at the Cullman Omniplex. The Lions did not drop a set all weekend, rolling past Lawson State, Coastal Alabama-South, Georgia Highlands, and Cleveland (NC).
Wallace State opened with a straight-set victory over Lawson State before handling Coastal Alabama-South later in the day. On Saturday, the Lions made quick work of Georgia Highlands and closed out the tournament with a decisive sweep of Cleveland, which finished 3-1 overall.
Tournament records included Cleveland at 3-1, Lawson State at 2-2, Coastal Alabama-South at 1-3, and Georgia Highlands at 0-4.
Head coach Randy Daniel praised his team’s improvement from the opening weekend.
“We played more consistently this weekend than we did last week. I could see our confidence growing every match,” Daniel said. “Our middle hitters stepped up this week to lead the team.”
The Lions (8-0) have yet to drop a set this season, showcasing balanced offense and strong play at the net.
Looking Ahead
Wallace State now turns its attention to a busy week on the road. The Lions will travel to Gadsden State on Wednesday before heading north to Vincennes, Indiana, for the Vincennes Invitational. The two-day event begins Friday with matches against Ellsworth and Wabash Valley. On Saturday, Wallace State will take on host Vincennes and Mineral Area College.
