#5 Lions Dominate ACCC Men’s Tennis Championship
Millbrook, Ala. — The 5th-ranked Wallace State men's tennis team put on a dominating
show as they captured the 2025 ACCC Championship last Saturday at 17 Springs in Millbrook,
Ala. The win marks the sixth consecutive ACCC Championship for men's tennis.
The Lions swept every championship flight at the tournament.
It all started with men’s player of the year James Edley, who rolled through the competition
to win the #1 singles championship. His brother Alex won at #2, while Angel Gautier
won at #3 singles. Zac Riley won at #4, Jean Badenhorst won #5, and Ferran Bonastre
won the #6 singles.J. Edley and Gautier won the #1 doubles championship, with A. Edley and Riley winning
the #2 doubles, and Bonastre and Jace Moody winning the #3 doubles.
“This is currently the best team ever assembled at Wallace State!” Coach Tim Garner
said. “The team has worked extremely hard, and their results have been shown on the
court.
Up Next: The Lions will travel to Florence, SC, for the National Tournament. The team
wants to make a deep run in this year’s tournament.
Tournament Notables:
J. Edley was named the ACCC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year.
J. Edley, A. Edley, and Gautier were named to the ACCC Men’s Tennis All-Conference
First-Team.
Coach Garner was named the ACCC Men’s Coach of the Year for the sixth time.
